I am a coupon junkie. I have a plastic coupon purse that is kept inside my real purse at all times. We only go to the supermarkets that doubles coupons or the "bag it yourself store".

Sorry, I couldn't resist. My husband and I just watched the 2008 drama. It's main theme was to "Never lose the love that you had at first"---or something to that effect. This is the first DC that we have not gone to and we are being shunned big time. My hubby said "Aren't we a little to old for this game?" He is right. Life is too short.
Anyway, I am sure comments have been made about the drama and I apologize if this topic has been discussed but that drama was a doozy. I went from anger to just plain sadness at the end. The drama hit all the emotions on the wheel. They really stressed that having money and loving god could never be achieved together. It was one or the other. Scolios, the elder turned bad, actually was kind of cool. He seemed like most of the elders I know. He provided jobs for the brothers and did good deeds---the horror. But alas, he was not regular at the meetings and service. The worst thing they could nail him on was providing silver for some idol or hiring someone to make the idol.
Then there was Helen and Julia. Helen was the bad one because she liked plays and wanted to go to Laodecia for good job. My husband laughed at this because many in our family go to plays and love them!!! Julia was Helen's friend and quite frankly was a snob. She was happy to make meals while her parents were in the ministry. Hmmmm.....Why wasn't she in service? This part of the drama was stretching the scriptures to shreds. Helen thinks she is going to a play with a friend but ends up at the forum and sees Petro (chrisitian) killled.
There was more in this drama---it was oh so very subtle. It made this kitty want to use the litter box. (That was bad)
Thanks for letting me vent or should I say HISSS. I"ll stop now!!!

Dogs in field service
by keyser soze inthe thread about angels in the ministry reminded me of this.
there was a lot of rural territory in the congregation that i attended, which meant a lot of houses with dogs out running loose.
some of these dogs were fairly vicious.

For some reason I was a magnet for dogs and bees.... I have always been a little bit scared of the large dogs and these were the ones that were always at the end of a long driveway sitting at the front door. Fortunately, someone was always with me who loved dogs or who had a way with them. The dog or dogs would jump on me and sniff everywhere (you know what I mean!!) Or they would just stare me down. How come the poorer the territory the more dogs are at the homes? Never understood that. Nothing traumatic ever occured. Hey--maybe I really was a cat in another life!! HA HA

Hey New Light!!
How cool that you found a good fit for your little girl!!! I understand that there are many "youth groups and camps" out there for children and teens. Good for you!!! Being raised a JW we were taught that all children were to be with the parents and listen and stay quiet during the meetings. This made us "No part of this world". Keep us informed on how your daughter likes it!!! Oh--I am going to respond to your other topic thread on your mother. I am getting my thoughts together.

Do You Love Learning New Things?
by compound complex infellow autodidacts:.
narrow down the topic a bit ... i know that!
i just did by adding "new things.

Pandoras cat
I love to learn new things also!!! I always was an avid book reader---but never had the time to pursue it. Going to meetings, field service, reading the Society's publications took any spare time I had. In the last couple of years I have been able to figure out what I really like to do. Sad huh? Being so busy in the organization can make a person lose their identity of who they really are.

Society to start laminating paper backed publications
by Lady Zombie inat the wednesday night ministry school meeting, a letter from the society was read announcing that wtbts paperbacked publications will begin to be laminated.
according to the letter, this "will save approximately 2 million dollars per year," "lengthen the life of the publications," and "increase the attractiveness" of the publications.. so there's that.. .
also, will someone please explain to me why 85% of the congregation started smiling and nodding at this.. i sometimes think that headquarters could send the congregations boxes of turds and the jws would act like it was the best thing ever..
-
Pandoras cat
I agree with heathen. Headquarters will now ask for MORE donations for new laminating machines. They should look at HSN. So much for simplifying things!! Do any of you remember the pink song book? They had a deluxe one that was soft leather (I think) and had gold edging on it. As a kid I would try to scrape off the gold. (I thought it was real) I used too think that the brothers and sisters who had these "deluxe" copies were somehow more special.
